Egyptian First Lady Entissar El Sisi expressed her pleasure of meeting South Korean Counterpart Kim Jung-sook on Thursday at Ittahadiya Presidential Palace in eastern Cairo, according to her official social media accounts.
"I was honored to receive the First Lady of the Republic of South Korea, Mrs. Kim Jung-sook," Entissar El Sisi wrote on her Facebook account.
She added, "Our meeting was full of rich discussions on supporting youth and empowering women across all fields, in addition to our talk about the Egyptian State's efforts in economic and social development and the great role that young people play in this aspect."
Egypt's First Lady stressed that she and her South Korea Counterpart discussed "the Egyptian State's measures to provide a decent life for all Egyptians through a series of government initiatives, paving the way towards the New Republic."
"While I welcome the honorable guests of Egypt to their second country, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Mrs. Kim Jung-sook for her kind feelings and words about Egypt, which confirmed the depth of the distinguished relations and friendship that unite the two countries and peoples," she noted.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in’s visit to Cairo, which will last until Friday, is part of a tour of visits to the Middle East that included the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The South Korean President’s visit to Egypt is the first in 16 years and comes in light of the partnership that was signed between Cairo and Seoul in 2016, said South Korean Ambassador to Egypt, Hong Jin-Wook, in a press conference on Sunday.
This visit was scheduled to be made in March 2021, but it has been postponed due to coronavirus, the ambassador added.
