The Egyptian Embassy in Accra successfully organized the inaugural Egypt-Ghana Virtual Business Forum, in collaboration with the Embassy’s Trade Office.
The event attracted widespread participation from business communities and companies specializing in construction, information and communications technology, food, and pharmaceuticals, as well as procurement authorities and national drug agencies from both countries.
The forum featured a keynote dialogue with Sherif Gabaly, Chairman of the African Affairs Committee of the Egyptian Parliament, bringing together for the first time nearly 90 senior figures representing business sectors and trade stakeholders in Egypt and Ghana.
The session also included representatives from the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), who highlighted the agreement’s trade facilitation measures and customs exemptions designed to streamline bilateral trade.
Ambassador Wael Fathy, Egypt’s envoy to Ghana, outlined the ongoing growth in bilateral relations, emphasizing expanding commercial and investment opportunities between the two nations. He noted the increasing presence of Egyptian companies in Ghana, contributing actively to the country’s development plans.
The forum hosted multiple parallel sectoral sessions aimed at enhancing dialogue on key opportunities and challenges affecting Egypt-Ghana trade.
Among the main outcomes were streamlined procedures for registering Egyptian pharmaceuticals in the Ghanaian market, practical steps to improve access to each country’s markets, and initiatives to boost reciprocal business visits. These measures are expected to facilitate joint manufacturing ventures and expand exports across West Africa.
