Pakistan Airways (PIA) announced the launch of its first direct flight to London after a six-year suspension.
Sama News reported that the flight departed from Islamabad Airport on Sunday with 329 passengers on board. Four weekly flights will operate from Pakistan to London, while three weekly flights will operate to Manchester.
The UK imposed a ban on PIA in 2020 following a tragic plane crash that killed nearly 100 people in Karachi, Pakistan. The situation worsened when the then-Pakistani aviation minister revealed that several pilots had been hired with fake licenses, raising serious safety concerns.
The UK recently lifted the ban after Pakistani authorities implemented improvements to safety procedures.
