Amid escalating global political tensions following the outbreak of war between Israel and Gaza, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported a Molotov cocktail attack on its embassy in Romania on Monday.
There were no injuries or damages.
Romanian authorities swiftly apprehended a suspect, reportedly of Syrian origin. According to the ministry, the assailant lit the Molotov cocktail and threw it during a security inspection.
Israeli Ambassador to Romania Reuven Azar expressed gratitude to Romanian security forces and police for apprehending what he termed a "violent extremist."
In a video message, Azar condemned the attack, stating that the assailant had thrown the Molotov cocktail near the embassy.
He reaffirmed Israel's stance against terrorism, declaring, "We will never surrender to terrorists!" on social media platform X.
Since the onset of the Israeli conflict with Gaza, Western countries have voiced concerns over rising incidents of antisemitism and racism. Several US states, in particular, have reported such occurrences.
In response to heightened threats, many Israeli embassies worldwide, including those in Argentina, Sweden, and China, have implemented stringent security measures.
