A Delta Air Lines aircraft caught fire at Orlando International Airport on Monday, prompting an emergency evacuation of passengers.

Videos circulating on social media show thick smoke billowing from the aircraft as passengers slide down inflatable emergency slides to escape.

The incident occurred just before takeoff, causing immediate concern among crew and travelers.

According to US media outlets, the aircraft involved was Delta flight 1231, scheduled to fly from Orlando to Atlanta. The plane, an Airbus A330-200 with registration number N807NW, has been in service for over 21 years.

Initial reports indicate that the fire originated in one of the aircraft’s engines while it was still on the ground. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed, and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The aircraft sustained minor damage due to the fire, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Delta Airlines are both expected to release statements as more information becomes available.

The swift response by airport emergency personnel and Delta staff ensured the safety of everyone on board. The incident has, however, raised fresh concerns about aging aircraft in commercial fleets and the importance of routine maintenance and safety checks.

The airport resumed normal operations shortly after the situation was brought under control, although some flights experienced minor delays.
