Around 100 firefighters were deployed on Saturday to tackle a major blaze at the former BBC headquarters in White City, West London, according to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
The London Fire Brigade confirmed that crews from Hammersmith, North Kensington, Kensington, Chiswick, and surrounding stations were called to the scene shortly after 3 a.m. local time (0200 GMT). The fire erupted in the nine-storey building, widely known as Television Centre, which once served as the iconic home of the BBC.
Officials said the blaze is currently affecting the upper floors of the building, with flames spreading through a restaurant, rooftop area, and ventilation ducts. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Authorities reported no casualties or fatalities. Firefighters remain on site to contain the blaze and prevent further damage.
The Television Centre, opened in 1960, was the BBC’s primary broadcasting hub for decades before operations were relocated in 2013. Today, the site houses offices, apartments, studios, and leisure facilities.
