Finland will reopen the two border crossings on the Finnish-Russian borders, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo announced on Tuesday, adding that they could be closed again if necessary.
The main Vaalimaa, and Niirala crossing points will be reopened, however, the rest of mutual border crossing points between Russia and Finland will remain closed.
All eight crossings between the two countries were closed by Finland in late November for security concerns.
The two border crossing points will be open for an initial period until January 14.
Orpo said that the restrictions have been eased in order to check whether "there is a change for the better."
He added: "If the phenomenon continues, we will close these border crossings."
