Finnish President Alexander Stubb has ruled out the possibility of providing Ukraine with long-range weapons, citing Finland’s unique position as Russia's western neighbor and its proximity to the frontlines.

Stubb emphasized that Finland's geographical location, with a 1,340-kilometer border shared with Russia, places the country on the NATO-Russia frontline, which means Finland has a crucial role in the ongoing conflict.

According to the president, Finland currently does not need to supply such weapons, highlighting that one of Helsinki's primary responsibilities is to prevent any attacks on its territory from Russia.

He noted that his country can continue to support Ukraine in other ways, without resorting to providing long-range weaponry.

Since the beginning of Russia's military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the West has consistently increased its supply of weapons to Ukraine.

Despite this, Kyiv continues to request more advanced systems and long-range missiles from its allies.

The Russian government has repeatedly stated that Western arms shipments to Ukraine and the training of Ukrainian military personnel by the West only serve to prolong the conflict and do not alter the situation on the battlefield.
