Next Sunday, the final full moon of 2024 and the third of Autumn in the northern hemisphere will rise.
December's full moon is known as “Cold Moon," “Long Nights Moon," or the “Moon Before Yule” will rise with four bright lights around it.
The moon will be surrounded by Capella in Auriga to the upper left, Pollux in Gemini to the lower left, Jupiter to the upper right, and Betelgeuse to the lower right.
The “Cold Moon” will be also the highest one of the year.
Since the sun is at its lowest in the sky this month, as seen from the northern hemisphere, the full moon will be at its highest.
It will stay for longer period in the sky than any other full moon of the year.
