The Federal Reserve Board decided Wednesday to fix interest rates at 5.5% in the last sessions of 2023.

This is the third meeting in a row without a change in interest rates, as the key interest rate has ranged between 5.25% and 5.5% since last July.

The US Federal Reserve's decision was in line with expectations, to keep interest rates unchanged at 5.5%, the highest level in 22 years.

Policymakers on the Open Market Committee, which is charged with setting interest rates at the US Federal Reserve, voted unanimously to keep the overnight borrowing rate.

According to a statement issued by the committee, it confirmed that it will take multiple factors into consideration regarding any further tightening policy, explaining that the levels of inflationary tendencies declined over the past year, while maintaining its description of prices as still high.

This is the third time in a row that the Fed has fixed interest rates, after the last September and November meetings, while the last rate hike was at the last July meeting.
