The US Federal Reserve fixed Wednesday interest rates at their current range of 5.25% to 5.5% for the 7th time in a row, but said it expects to cut them only once this year.
According to expectations, the US Federal Council kept the key interest rate unchanged and indicated that only one cut is expected before the end of the year.
The Federal Monetary Policy Committee expects to cut rates only once in 2024 by 25 basis points, compared to its previous expectations of three cuts and another 100 basis points in 2025.
Expectations also indicate that inflation in personal consumption expenditures and core consumption in 2025 will reach 2.3%, compared to 2.2% last March.
