The FBI has confiscated more than 600 drones that entered restricted airspace over US host cities during the World Cup, according to the agency.
The bureau said the seizures resulted from close coordination between law enforcement agencies and the Department of Homeland Security, with enforcement actions carried out across all 11 US cities staging tournament matches.
Authorities said the measures are aimed at strengthening security and protecting the airspace surrounding stadiums and other tournament-related facilities.
The United States, Canada and Mexico are set to co-host the expanded World Cup, which will feature 48 national teams for the first time in the competition's history. The FBI has increased surveillance and counter-drone operations as part of broader efforts to secure major sporting events and prevent unauthorized aerial activity.
