The Federal Bureau of Investigation (  FBI) is investigating the Corona Virus Task Force of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, after he was accused of trying to impede the disclosure of Corona death data, in nursing homes in the state.

Two sources told ABC News that the investigation initiated by the FBI and federal prosecutors in Brooklyn is still in its early stages, and subpoenas have been issued.

And the sources explained that the investigation focuses particularly on how the Como administration dealt with nursing homes early in the Coronavirus pandemic.

Calls to sue Cuomo and his staff over their mishandling of the Corona pandemic escalated after one of his top aides admitted that the administration had hidden information about deaths in nursing homes.

And the New York State Department of Health was forced to reveal that the true number of deaths among residents of nursing homes is about 12743 and not 8711 as was previously recognized.

The state counted only those who died in nursing homes, leaving 4,000 residents in these homes were transferred to hospitals where they died there.

Cuomo responded to these allegations, stressing that the state authorities have always and completely announced all deaths due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in nursing homes and hospitals.

He  indicated  that "New York ranks 34 out of 50 states in terms of the percentage of deaths in nursing homes, compared to other states

Calls to sue New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo and his staff over their handling of the Corona pandemic have escalated after one of his top aides admitted that the administration had hidden information about deaths in nursing homes.

The New York City Attorney's Office Letitia James revealed that the state has reduced the number of deaths in nursing homes by up to 50 percent.

Elise Stefanek, a Republican congressman from New York State, said the disclosure of this information showed "a startling and criminal abuse of power."
