Yoon Ki-jong, father of South Korean President Yoon Sok-yol, died today Tuesday, at the age of 92, according to the presidential office.
South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that Yoon Ki-jong, who was an honorary professor at Yonsei University, was transferred to Seoul University Hospital.
It was reported that the Korean president rushed to the hospital after attending the liberation day ceremony yesterday Monday, where he stayed next to his father during his last moments.
"In order not to leave a vacuum in state affairs, President Yoon decided to hold a family funeral ceremony," the presidential office said, adding that no flowers or funeral visits would be accepted.
