Faten Hamama's Zamalek Apartment to Be Auctioned

Faten Hamama's apartment where she lived with Omar El Sherif in Zamalek district will go under the hammer on October 27.

The two-floor apartment is located at the famous Lipon complex which was inhabited by various superstars such as Samia Gamal, Farid Al Atrash, Sherihan, and Moharam Fouad.

Born in 1931, the actress was one of the most important artists who was able to touch the hearts of Egyptian society with her distinguished roles and performance since she first appeared on screens when she was only 7 years old.

She made her screen debut in 1939, before her activity and gradual success helped her to become a distinguished Egyptian actress.

Later, she became an icon in Egyptian and Middle Eastern cinema; she substantially helped in improving the cinema industry in Egypt and emphasizing the importance of women in cinema and Egyptian society

She died on 17 January 2015, aged 84, and her funeral was attended by thousands of mourners who blocked traffic around the mosque where the service was being held. The event was broadcast live on TV channel. Many public figures attended the funeral.
