The Palestinian Fatah movement has voiced its strong support for Egypt’s recent statements before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), affirming the urgency of refocusing global attention on the Palestinian cause amid an ongoing humanitarian and political crisis in Gaza.
According to Al-Qahera News, Fatah spokesperson Eyad Abu Zanait emphasized that the situation in Gaza should not be reduced to a mere humanitarian emergency. “What’s happening in Gaza is not just about aid or medicine,” he said. “It is part of the ongoing suffering of a people who have lived under occupation for over 70 years.”
Abu Zanait highlighted that the Palestinian issue is fundamentally about a people and their land—not just a military conflict or war in Gaza. He praised Egypt’s recent address at the ICJ, in which it underscored the Palestinian right of return and the right to self-determination, calling it a vital move to bring core issues back into international discourse.
“This is a critical step at a time when the world must reconsider its approach to Palestinian rights in a serious and comprehensive manner,” Abu Zanait stated. He also condemned Israel’s continued non-compliance with international law, asserting that as an occupying power, Israel bears legal responsibilities that it systematically disregards.
He concluded by criticizing the broader international stance, noting a gap between global justice principles and actual political positions. “The international position does not align with justice,” he said, “while Israel continues to violate international norms through annexation and the imposition of sovereignty over Palestinian territories.”
