The The Football Association has announced that the 2026 Community Shield will be staged away from its traditional home at Wembley Stadium, with the match set to take place at the Principality Stadium.

The fixture is scheduled for Sunday, August 16, 2026, one week ahead of the start of the Premier League season, serving as the curtain-raiser for the new campaign.

The decision to relocate the match comes due to a scheduling conflict at Wembley, which will host major concerts during the same period.

Among them is a performance by global music star The Weeknd, preventing the iconic venue from accommodating the annual fixture.

This marks only the third time the Community Shield has been moved from Wembley since its reopening in 2007.

Previously, the 2012 edition was held at Villa Park, while the 2022 match took place at King Power Stadium.

The Principality Stadium is no stranger to the competition, having hosted six consecutive editions between 2001 and 2006.

During that period, top clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool lifted the trophy.

Traditionally contested between the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup, the Community Shield is widely regarded as the official kickoff to the English football season.
