The British Ministry of Defense confirmed that a submarine carrying Trident 2 nuclear missiles was forced to abort its secret mission and appeared to the surface after a fire broke out on board, according to the British newspaper, "Express".

The submarine "Victoris" was in an undisclosed location in the North Atlantic when a disaster occurred about six weeks ago, as an electrical engineer on board had caught fire.

The engine was of Vanguard class, worth £ 3 million, caught fire and the captain of the submarine took precautionary measures to prevent the fire from extending to other parts of the submarine.

According to the newspaper, the appearance of the submarine on the surface risked revealing its location to Russia, noting that the submarine crew worked to combat the fire.

The Victoris is one of four Trident-class submarines that conduct nuclear patrols, known as Continuous Nuclear Deterrence at Sea.
