Explosion Hits Main Gas Pipeline in North Sinai

North Sinai Governorate announced on Thursday that the main gas pipeline in the west Arish neighborhood of Sabika was exposed to an explosion on Thursday evening.

North Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shousha said in a statement that the explosion will not affect the gas supply to the Masa`id steam station, nor the citizens in Arish.

The governor confirmed that the explosion will also not affect the industrial zone in Central Sinai, referring to coordination with the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) immediately after the explosion, which closed the control valves to quickly control the fire, stressing that there were no casualties.

He pointed out that the relevant agencies are investigating the explosion. Meantime, the security services carry out extensive combing operations at the explosion site.
