Major General Nagy Shahoud, a strategic expert and advisor at the Nasser Military Academy, revealed that the report issued recently on ISIS is the 14th in a series of reports launched by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) since late 2017.

He added the report is issued every 120 days, to monitor the situation of terrorism that has turned to a job some people live from.

In remarks to "Akher An-Nahar" program, broadcast on the "Al-Nahar" satellite channel, on Sunday, Shahoud said that the interest in the issue of terrorism began at the United Nations when terrorists began to return to their countries in Europe.

"Terror became painful for the West and Europe felt its danger," the expert noted.

Shahoud added that this report, which is issued every 4 months, deals with everything regarding terrorism, pointing out that this report consists of 120 pages, and each page has approximately 25 lines.

He manifested that "Only five lines in this report tackled Egypt's situation in terms of combating terrorism, stressing that "the report was dealt with impartially, as it covers the whole region in all of Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East."

The strategic expert pointed out that the report affirmed that Egypt is stable during the last five years, and life has become normal compared to the stability before 2009, noting that "the police, armed forces and the Egyptian people were able to defeat terrorism.

"The report revealed that terrorism cannot cross the Suez Canal, but rather it was nipped in the bud," Shahoud stressed.

He added that "The report referred to the return of development projects in Sinai, which confirms that terrorism has been completely defeated in Egypt."

“The armed forces acknowledge that fighting terrorism needs a battle of development, in parallel with a battle against terrorist operations in Sinai,” said Military Spokesperson Colonel Gharib Abdel Hafiz in televised statements in last October.

Abdel Hafiz added that “The development of Sinai is a top priority for the political leadership… The Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces was assigned to implement many development projects in Sinai.”

“The armed forces made a great effort in the field of seawater desalination with the implementation of 34 drinking water plants, including 22 desalination plants in Sinai. We have 36 sewage treatment plants at a cost of about EGP 19 billion,” the spokesman manifested.
