The election marathon for the House of Representatives 2020 will begin on Saturday. The parliamentary elections first stage's governorates are getting prepared to conduct the voting process.

The National Elections Authority coordinates with the relevant government authorities to secure the election process, transfer ballot boxes and judicial supervision.

How to locate your electoral commission?

1- Via the official commission website www.elections.eg, by entering your 14-digit national number.

2- Send a short message, including the national number, to phone number 5151.

3- Call the hotline 141 and follow all the required steps.

What are the steps to casting you vote in the elections?

  • The voting process starts from 9 am to 9 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
  • The voter has his name registered in the election committee in which he will cast his vote and wear a mask.
  • Voters who are not in their place of residence are not allowed to cast except in their constituencies.
  • Providing proof of his identity - a national identification card or a passport.
  • The head of the committee checks the identity of each voter.
  • The voter receives a voting card stamped with the committee's seal or the signature of its president.
  • Voting for the list candidates takes place in a separate card
  • Voting for the inpidual system candidates is carried out in another independent card.
  • The voter must choose a number of candidates equal to the number of seats decided for each constituency.
  • Put the two folded cards, one in the inpidual's box and the other in the list’s.
  • He signs in front of his name in the voter list with his handwriting or thumbprint.
  • The secretary of the committee signs too.
  • If he is a person with special needs in a way that prevents him from proving his opinion himself, he can express his opinion in private to the head of the committee who affixes it to the card.

  • What are the practices that nullify your electoral vote?

  • Using the pencil to mark the voting card
  • Tender the electoral vote to more than one candidate as scheduled, or the amendment or deletion in the candidate list system.
  • The voter votes in a card other than the one handed to him by the head of the subcommittee.
  • The voter signs the ballot in his name.
  • Putting any sign or other mark that indicates the person of the voter, or violates the secrecy of the vote, in any way.
  • What are the measures taken by the National Authority to ensure the hygienic process of the elections?

  • A set of necessary preventive measures have been taken to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus during voting.
  • All parties are required to wear medical masks.

  • What are the constituencies of the first phase of the elections for representatives on the inpidual system?

    Elections will be held in 14 governorates for the first stage as follows:

    Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, the Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira and Matrouh.

    284 seats are allocated to them, 142 among them are in the inpidual system and 142 in a lists’ system.

    It has 2,163 candidates, including 1,879 inpiduals and 284 on the list, including 1,416 independent candidates and 747 party candidates, including 348 women.

    What are the constituencies of the first stage of elections on the list system?

    The second constituency "North, Central and South Upper Egypt", located at the Giza Security Directorate, includes 11 governorates (Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea). 100 seats were allocated to it.

    The fourth constituency, "West Delta Sector", headquartered at the Alexandria Security Directorate, includes 3 governorates (Alexandria, Beheira, Matrouh), and 42 seats have been allocated to it.
