Libyan authorities succeeded to free a number of Egyptian citizens who were kidnapped there, according to well-informed sources to Sada El Balad English (SEENews), Thursday.
"The group that was returned to Egypt was kidnapped in the eastern city of Tobruk," sources revealed.
Tobruk is a port city on Libya's eastern Mediterranean coast, near the border with Egypt.
It reported that the Egyptian authorities received citizens who had been kidnapped in Libya, as part of the Egyptian General Intelligence's efforts to secure and protect Egyptian citizens in Libya and in coordination with the Libyan security authorities.
In 2016, joint Egyptian-Libyan efforts led to the liberation of 23 Egyptians who were kidnapped in the coastal region of Brega.

Egyptian workers have been subjected to kidnappings in Libya in recent years, amid the security chaos in the country and the spread of armed and extremist groups.
In June, more than 200 Egyptian workers in Libya were held captive by forces affiliated to the Government of National Accord, according to several Libyan local media.
The Egyptian captives were taken to Misrata, northwestern Libyan. They were detained in Tarhuna, 65 kilometers to the southeast of Tripoli.
