Ever Given owner "Shoei Kisen" said that has not received any lawsuits to seek compensation for damages caused by the blockage of the Suez Canal, according to Yumi Shinohara, deputy director of the fleet department.

"There were no lawsuits against our company related to the blockage of the canal," Shinohara told Reuters.

"We are still investigating the cause of the accident, possible insurance payments and compensation for damage," she said.

Sources said that the Japanese owner of a giant container ship, one of the world's largest, could face millions of dollars in compensation.

Shinohara said the vessel is insured by Japan's Mitsui Sumitomo, and Sompo, while UK P&I Club is declared to be Ever Given's protection and compensation insurance company.

In addition to oil, consumer goods, around $10 billion worth of goods were blocked by Ever Given.

Navigation resumed late Monday after tugboats re-floated the 400-meter giant container, which caused a complete blockage of the world's most vital waterway, leaving more than 321 vessels jammed around the Suez Canal for 6 days.
