The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, said that the Holy Qur’an redresses the negative image associated with women past and present, with regard to the curse of Original Sin, which places the blame on Eve for tempting her husband, Adam. However, the Qur’an clearly declared that both Adam and Eve wilfully ate from the tree and that neither of them was responsible for the other’s disobedience.
He added: Hence, women were acquitted, for the first time, of the so-called Original Sin. Rather, it is declared that Eve, though disobedient, did not tempt her husband to disobey divine command.
