The European Union announced on Monday that talks in Vienna aimed at reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement would begin on Tuesday, the latest of many rounds of talks aimed at bringing the US back into the deal and persuading Tehran to stop its violations, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.

Iran and the United Kingdom, as well as China, France, Germany, and Russia, have been meeting in Vienna to discuss the measures that would be needed if the deal, which was abandoned by former US President Donald Trump in 2018, were to be revived.

"Participants will continue their discussions in view of a possible return of the United States (to the accord) and on how to ensure the full and effective implementation (of the accord)," the EU said in a statement.

Since Iran has refused direct negotiations, a US delegation is in a different location in Vienna, allowing members from the five powers to shuttle between the two sides.

The European parties to the agreement said that progress had been made in the first two rounds, but that much more work was required.
