The head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, highlighted Friday in Alicante the importance of the project to create the first green hydrogen corridor in the European Union (EU) because it will provide "greater security and energy independence" for the entire European Union.
The Spanish newspaper "El Mundo" indicated that at the Alicante summit, held today, and attended by many European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Portuguese President Antonio Costa, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen along with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, where a project is being discussed.
Sanchez noted that with the implementation of this project, which is expected to be completed before the end of the current decade, "the energy security and strategic independence of the EU are strengthened," which is essential "at a key moment" against countries that "use energy as a tool of blackmail."
