European Council President Charles Michel will visit China on December 1, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian announced.
In a press conference, Zhao said that this is the first official meeting between the Chinese leader and leaders of EU institutions after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Moreover, he stressed that China attaches great importance to the development of Sino-European relations, and looks forward to working with the European side to strengthen strategic contacts and build consensus, in order to promote stable, healthy, and sustainable development of relations between China and Europe, and inject more stability into the complex and unstable international situation.
In addition, the Chinese president will hold talks with Michel to exchange views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of common concern, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman.
Furthermore, Zhao said Michel will also meet with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and top Chinese legislator Li Zhanshu.
