European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has arrived in Kyiv and is set to address the Ukrainian Parliament, as informed by Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Zhelezniak on his Telegram channel.
"Today, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Kyiv. We are awaiting her speech in parliament," Zhelezniak added.
This visit followed a prior announcement by Ukrainian parliamentarian Oleksiy Goncharenko, who anticipated von der Leyen's arrival on Saturday, bearing positive decisions concerning the initiation of discussions about Ukraine's EU accession.
Previously, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, in an interview with Spiegel, mentioned that fulfilling all necessary requirements could lead to Ukraine’s EU membership by 2030 while noting that some Balkan countries have been awaiting membership for 20 years.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba had expressed Ukraine's ambition to commence negotiations concerning EU membership by the end of the year.
