European Commission: Ukraine Makes Progress in Process of Joining EU

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Ukraine is unusually ambitious and is making progress in the process of joining the European Union.

Der Leyen added, "There are approximately 18 to 20 different dossiers we are already working on with the Ukrainian government, so it will be an excellent meeting to deepen and intensify the different topics on the agenda. It is important for us that Ukraine advances at the highest quality," Spanish newspaper Lapangordia reported. "

The European Union (EU) had earlier expressed its "welcome to the great efforts made by Ukraine recently to strengthen the rule of law, despite the continuation of the war."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed with Ursula von der Leyen, in a phone call, to set a date for the Ukraine summit on February 3, and to discuss plans for more financial and military support from the European Union.

The next summit between the European Union and Ukraine will be held on February 3 in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, according to the Ukrainian presidential office.
