The European Commission asked its employees to immediately delete the "Tik Tok" application from personal and work mobile phones.

The European Commission stated that this measure came in order to protect data and enhance its cyber security, so it decided to suspend this application on corporate and personal devices registered in the mobile device services registered with it.

Employees must remove the app as soon as possible and should do so by March 15.

TikTok, whose parent company ByteDance is Chinese, has faced increasing Western scrutiny in recent months over fears about how much access Beijing has to user data.

European authorities threatened TikTok to ban the use of the social network in the European Union if it did not prevent minors from accessing videos that could lead to murder.

The United States last year banned the app from federal government devices, and some US lawmakers are trying to prohibit TikTok from operating in the United States.
