EU, USA Pledge to  Settle Trade Disputes, Detect Origin of Coronavirus

“Reuters”, a news agency revealed that the final statement of the next USA-EU summit will include a commitment to settle the trans-Atlantic trade disputes and a call for conducting a new study to spot the origin of the Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19).

The agency affirmed that the draft of the final statement comprises seven pages and aims at expressing “ New Dawn”  in relations between the United States of America (USA)   and the European Union (EU) over the period following President Joe Biden taking the helm last January.

It is worth noting that Brussels, the capital city of Belgium, will host next week the USA-EU summit.

The document concentrates on the commitment of the American and European sides to terminate the long-lived dispute over financial subsidies offered to manufacturers of airplanes before July 11 and abolishing harsh tariffs on USA imports of European steel imposed by the Donald J. Trump administration before by December 1st.

Reuters indicated that US producers of steel put pressure on the Biden administration to keep Trump’s tariffs in place.

The draft also includes an accord between the two parties to cooperate in phrasing unified policies towards China.

The agency quoted the draft as saying that the USA and EU intend to cooperate and consult in a close manner about a whole spectrum of matters within the multi-layer method towards China.

The draft contains an invitation to achieve progress related to conducting a transparent study based on evidence to spot the origin of COVID-19.

According to the agency, the two sides pledge to vaccinate about two-thirds of the world’s population against the Coronavirus by the end of 2022.

It is worth noting that ambassadors of the EU meet today, Wednesday, to discuss the draft of the coming summit.
