The European Union (EU) has expressed deep concern over the latest developments in Syria, calling for an immediate de-escalation and the protection of civilians. The EU emphasized the need for all parties involved in the conflict to adhere to international humanitarian law, ensure the safety of civilian infrastructure, and facilitate unrestricted humanitarian access to affected areas.

In a strongly worded statement, the EU condemned recent airstrikes by Russian forces targeting densely populated areas. These actions, coupled with Moscow’s ongoing support for the Assad regime, have drawn sharp criticism for exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and fueling further violence.

“The European Union strongly condemns the airstrikes by Russia on civilian areas and its continued backing of the Assad regime’s oppressive tactics,” the statement read.

The EU highlighted the dire need to prioritize civilian safety amidst the escalating conflict. The targeting of residential areas and vital infrastructure has left countless families displaced and worsened conditions in already fragile communities.
