The EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell condemned, on Tuesday, the Israeli strike on Gaza that killed seven aid members of the World Central Kitchen.
Borrell paid tribute to the staff members who were killed by an Israeli strike that hit the cards of the World Central Kitchen in Gaza.
Borrell posted on X: “I condemn the attack and urge an investigation,” adding: “Despite all the demands to protect civilians and humanitarian workers, we see new innocent casualties."
On Tuesday, World Central Kitchen announced suspending its activities in Gaza after seven of its aid workers were killed in an Israeli military strike.
The organization said that foreign nationals were among seven aid workers killed in the Israeli strike attack during conducting their mission to deliver food to people in Gaza.
World Central Kitchen said its workers were traveling in a “deconflicted zone” in two cars branded with the charity’s logo as well as “a soft skin vehicle.”
The organization said in a statement: “Despite coordinating movements with the IDF, the convoy was hit as it was leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse, where the team had unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza on the maritime route."
Among the foreign nationalities reported among victims are dual US-Canadaian, Australian, Polish, British, and Palestinian.
“I am heartbroken and appalled that we – World Central Kitchen and the world – lost beautiful lives today because of a targeted attack by the IDF,” World Central Kitchen CEO Erin Gore said in the statement.
“The love they had for feeding people, the determination they embodied to show that humanity rises above all, and the impact they made in countless lives will forever be remembered and cherished,” Gore added.
