On Saturday, the Secretary-General of the European Commission, Ilze Juhansone, affirmed the EU bloc's commitment to providing all kinds of support to Egypt, at the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27).

This came during a meeting held by the Egyptian ambassador to the European Union, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, with the European official.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated - on its official Facebook page- that the Secretary-General of the Commission indicated the EU's confidence in Egypt's ability to make this summit a success and produce tangible results that contribute to the implementation of what was agreed upon at the Glasgow Summit.

The meeting dealt with following up on the outcomes of the visit paid by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, to Egypt in mid-June, to discuss ways of enhancing various issues of cooperation, including food security and energy.

The two sides stressed the importance of maintaining the momentum witnessed in bilateral relations, in a way that contributes to strengthening various cooperation frameworks, especially in the field of energy with its traditional, renewable, and clean sources, including the production of green hydrogen, in light of Egypt’s hosting of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP27 in November.
