European Council President Antonio Costa affirmed that his joint visit to Syria with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen underscores the European Union's ongoing support for the country’s reconstruction efforts.
In a post on the "X" platform, reported by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Costa urged for continued work at maximum speed and with full dedication to build a peaceful and inclusive Syria for all.
Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa received President Costa, President von der Leyen, and their accompanying delegation yesterday at the People's Palace in Damascus.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Assad Hassan Al-Shaibani.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Syria and the European Union, particularly in the fields of reconstruction and strengthening stability in Syria and the region.
The discussions also covered economic partnerships, sustainable development, humanitarian issues, and refugee-related matters in Europe.
