European Union (EU) leaders meet in Brussels on Thursday, where they are expected to be joined by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
After repeatedly addressing EU summits by video in recent months, Zelensky's visit will be his first trip to the Belgian capital since the start of the Russian invasion where he can raise topics such as greater and faster arms deliveries, support for Ukraine's bid for EU membership and his peace plan.
Zelensky is also expected to visit the European Parliament today.
EU leaders are scheduled to discuss the reconstruction of Ukraine and justice for "war crimes" committed in the country.
The EU summit was initially held due to large numbers of asylum applications and the arrival of illegal immigrants in the bloc.
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said earlier that he was ready to block the announcement of the summit if no concrete agreements were reached on tackling irregular migration.
