President of European Council, António Costa, extended his thanks to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the efforts exerted by Egypt to reach an agreement that puts an end to the war in Gaza and opens the way for a just and lasting peace in the region.
Costa said, in an exclusive statement to Al-Qahera News TV Channel, on Monday evening that the Sharm El Sheikh Summit achieved an important step towards peace in Gaza, affirming that the European Council seeks cooperation to enhance governance by the Palestinian state, considering this one of the basic objectives to support the Palestinian people and the Palestinian National Authority.
EU Council President pointed out that the European Union has allocated a sum of 1.6 billion euros to support the Palestinian Authority over the next two years, adding that intensive work is underway to provide support for reform and reconstruction operations in the Gaza Strip.
