Christian Berger, the European Union ambassador to Egypt, highlighted the importance of Egypt to the European Union due to its proximity to Europe and status as a producer of energy.

In an interview with "Al-Qahira Al-Youm," Berger stated that Egypt could serve as a hub and source of energy for the European Union by signing several memoranda of understanding for the export of liquefied gas from Egypt.

He also noted an increase in investment and exports this year, with Egypt exporting more gas to the European Union than ever before.

Berger discussed the cooperation between Egypt and the European Union in combating terrorism, mentioning a recent conference hosted by Egypt in collaboration with the European Union.

The conference focused on combating terrorism and enhancing anti-terrorism activities in Africa, with Berger emphasizing the strong cooperation between the two entities in this sector.

Berger also highlighted Egypt's role as a country that receives immigrants and discussed the European Union's cooperation with Egyptian authorities in controlling the smuggling of immigrants and halting illegal migration.

He discussed opening legal paths by enhancing training programs, including a center in Maadi where trainees can receive programs to combat illegal migration.

These efforts underscore the importance of cooperation between Egypt and the European Union in addressing critical issues.
