The European Commission has allocated a new tranche of total financial aid to Ukraine for the year 2023, amounting to 1.5 billion euros.

This was announced by the press service of the European Commission today, Tuesday, where the statement read, “Today, the European Commission has made the fourth installment of €1.5 billion as part of an overall financial aid package for Ukraine amounting to €18 billion.”

The Commission stated that the European Union, through this tool, aims to help Kyiv cover its immediate financing needs with substantial, stable, and predictable financial support in 2023.

It also indicated that this support will help Ukraine to continue paying salaries and pensions, as well as maintain the operation of basic public services such as hospitals, schools, and housing for the displaced, and added that the assistance also aims to rebuild the vital infrastructure that was destroyed in the course of the war.

The commission said the next tranche of 1.5 billion euros would be made in June.

The European Commission also confirmed in general that since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, the EU has provided 70 billion euros in aid to Kyiv, which includes financial and humanitarian support.
