Christian Berger, the head of the European Union delegation to Egypt, praised Egypt's hosting of the twenty-seventh session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP27), which kicked off on Sunday in Sharm El-Sheikh.
In exclusive statements to the Middle East News Agency, the Berger said that the conference is "very rich" in terms of topics, ideas and theses on the agenda, especially those that encourage the private sector to put forward new ideas and new technology.
He expressed his hopes that these ideas will be applied in the future to be part of the work to address climate challenges, pointing out to the importance of holding the conference in an African country.
Christian Berger said that the European representation in "COP27" reflects the importance of the conference, explaining that climate action is one of the most important priorities of the European Union.
