The Council of the European Union has approved an additional €3.5 billion in financial support for Ukraine as part of a €20 billion aid program announced last year.
In a statement released from Brussels, the Council confirmed the approval of the third installment, bringing the total amount provided to Ukraine from the EU's special fund to approximately €20 billion since its establishment a year ago.
In late February, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced during a joint meeting between the European Commission and the Ukrainian government in Kyiv that the EU would allocate a new financial aid package of €3.5 billion to Ukraine in March.
This financial support aims to strengthen Ukraine's economy and help the country withstand the ongoing conflict with Russia.
