European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the EU had allocated very concessional loans to Ukraine worth 18 billion euros for the year 2023.
According to the Commission’s statement, the aid will be provided in the form of long-term, highly concessional loans to finance the necessary reforms in Ukraine required for its accession to the European Union.
Earlier, von der Leyen mentioned that Kyiv had received more than 19 billion euros in aid from the EU this year, not counting military supplies.
Earlier, EU foreign ministers approved 500 million euros to fund aid to Kyiv and the training of Ukrainian forces in the bloc.
