Angelina Eichhorst, Head of European Union Delegation to Egypt and to the League of Arab States, reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to strengthening multilateralism and advancing a rules-based international order.
Delivering a keynote address at the “Peace and Development in the Arab and African Context” conference, hosted by the League of Arab States, Eichhorst said enhanced cooperation between the European Union, the League of Arab States, and the African Union is critical to promoting regional prosperity and ensuring sustainable security.
She emphasized that upholding international law and strengthening collective action are shared priorities among the three organizations, particularly amid mounting global challenges.
A credible, rules-based international system, she said, requires a reformed and modernized United Nations that better reflects current geopolitical realities and responds more effectively to the needs of Arab and African nations.
Eichhorst highlighted the close link between stability and development, noting that peace and economic growth are mutually reinforcing pillars of long-term regional progress.
She concluded by reiterating the EU’s commitment to supporting “regional solutions for regional challenges,” stressing the importance of translating political dialogue into concrete initiatives that deliver measurable development outcomes
