On Friday, the Ethiopian Election Board announced that the postponed general elections due to the Coronavirus pandemic, will be held on the fifth of next June.
The announcement of the new election date came during consultations held by the the head of Ethiopia's electoral board Birtukan Mideksa with a number of political parties in the country regarding the general elections.
Mideksa said that the general elections will be held on June, indicating that it will not include Tigray, which is going through exceptional situations due to the military operation that targeted law enforcement against the "Tigray Liberation Front" that ruled the region.
The Board's president added that the elections will be held in the capital, Addis Ababa, and the administration of the city of Dridawa, on the 12th of June, without providing further explanations.
She indicated that the final results of the elections will be available in the period from 6 to 28 June.
