The Sudanese Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Yasser Abbas discussed with his Ethiopian counterpart Seleshi Bekele the ongoing negotiations. They also adressed overcoming the obstacles that stand in their way to reach an agreement, taking into account the interests of the three parties Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia).
Bekele arrived in Khartoum on Monday. His visit comes after Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok agreed with his Ethiopian counterpart Abiy Ahmed in Addis Ababa on Tuesday to resume Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) talk.
The Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) indicated that Abbas held the first session of talks with his Ethiopian counterpart this afternoon.
