Ethiopia: Gov't Forces Take Control of Tigray's Adigrat Town

The Ethiopian government announced on Saturday that its forces "have taken full control of Adigrat town", as part of a military campaign, currently carried out in the rebellious region of Tigray, according to Sputnik news agency.

In a post on Twitter, the Ethiopia State of Emergency Fact Check office said, 'Today, November 21, 2020, Adigrat town has been fully liberated from the TPLF militia."

"National Defence Forces are currently advancing towards Mekelle," it added.

The office also denied claims that the meetings scheduled to be held between that Ethiopian Prime Minister (PM) Abiy Ahmed and African Union (AU) chairman Cyril Ramaphosa's envoys will deal with mediation between the federal government and the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF).

It is worth mentioning that, the defense forces took full control of Axum and Adwa towns yesterday.
