According to South Sudan embassy, South Sudan diplomats in Ethiopia, including the world’s youngest country’s head of mission in Addis Ababa, have been expelled by the Ethiopian government.

The incident took place two hours after the Ethiopian ambassador to South Sudan, Fisseha Shawl, left Juba in a sudden decision.

One South Sudan embassy source said: We received a letter this morning to notify us that we have 72 hours to leave, as they do not want us any more.

The latest development in the two countries relations comes after Shawl left the capital Juba when he knew about the presence of the leader of Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), Debretsion Gebremichael in Juba.

A source at the embassy said that the Shawl left after hearing some rumours about Gebremichael presence in Juba.

There are unconfirmed reports that Debretsion, whose forces in Mekelle, the capital of the Tigray regional state, have been defeated by a federal  Ethiopian ‘law enforcement’ operation,  is in Juba, visiting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi.

It's noteworthy that Gebremichael announced that his forces had shot down an Ethiopian military plane on Sunday and caught the pilot, a day after the government announced its military operation in the region was over.

He also added that the pilot was on a mission to bomb some areas in Tigray.

There was no abrupt comment from the Ethiopian Addis Ababa government or military. The government has previously said it only bombs military targets.
