On Thursday, the Ethiopian army chief Berhanu Jula accused Thursday the World Health Organization (WHO) boss, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus- the most prominent global figure of Tigrayans- of lobbying for the rebellious region and helping its authorities to obtain weapons.
In a press conference, Jula said that Tedros, who served as health minister under Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) leader Meles Zenawi, was "a part of that team", referring to the party, according to Reuters.
"He has worked in neighboring countries to condemn the war. He has worked for them to get weapons," Berhanu added.
"What do you expect from him? We don't expect he will back the Ethiopian people and condemn them," he said.
WHO boss has yet to respond to the accusation.
