President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Ahmad Ahmad acknowledged on Tuesday that he had been threatened by Esperance Tunis chairman Hamdi Al-Madeb, during the African Champions League final leg game on Friday, May 31, 2019.

"I am just wondering why the video assistant referee (VAR) system always breaks down during the matches specifically held in Tunis," Ahmed said.

"Madeb threatened me in the presence of presidents of well-known clubs, which condemn Esperance's practices in general, but there is no evidence regarding these practices yet," he added.

It is worth mentioning that the referee Bakary Gasima refused to return the VAR following Walid Karti's goal for Wydad in the 59th minute. Thus the match was suspended for more than an hour and a half then the referee announced that Wydad has withdrawn from the match, therefore, he announced Esperance as the winners.
