On Sunday, Espérance Sportive de Tunis are officially Africa's best football club, according to the International Football Federation of History and Statistics' (IFFHS) African rankings for 2021.
IFFHS reviled that the Espérance are the most successful African champions League team in history over the last decade.
When it comes to Africa, however, Espérance haven’t quite been the same formidable force.
In the last decade, the Tunisian renowned football team only won the Champions League three times in the 2019,2018, 2011 seasons. However, they did have one near-miss by finishing runners-up once.
The second African team on the list for the most successful football clubs in Africa is Egypt's side AL-Ahly.
In the same context, Egypt's Al-Ahly entered the Top 10 list of the most successful football clubs in Africa by winning the African Champions League title last previous season.
It's worth mentioning that they have won numerous domestic League crowns in the last four seasons, along with three CAF Cup Winners’ Cup (2012,2013, 2020) and one Confederation Cup (2011).
Next on the list for the most successful football clubs in Africa is Egypt's side AL-Zamalek.
On the other hand, many people regard the 2019 Super Cup winners as the best side in Africa's competition history, although they have struggled to hit those heights again this season.
Meanwhile, the white knights haven’t brought home any major trophies since winning the Champions League for the second time in 2002. However, they have won three (CAF) champions league Cup trophies and one Super Cup winners.
